SAMPLE MESSAGE TO BLM
Subject: Opposing the Rescission of the 2024 Conservation and Landscape Health Rule (Docket BLM-2025-0001)
I strongly oppose the Bureau of Land Management’s proposal to rescind the 2024 Conservation and Landscape Health Rule. This rule is essential to maintaining healthy, functioning, and scenic public lands across the United States.
Our public lands face increasing challenges — wildfire, drought, invasive species, and habitat fragmentation — that demand science-based management, not weakened standards. The 2024 Rule ensures that BLM lands are managed with clear expectations for ecological health and accountability when those standards are not met.
Rolling back this rule would harm the $1.2 trillion outdoor recreation economy and jeopardize jobs in rural gateway communities that depend on scenic, well-managed landscapes. Healthy lands are not a barrier to economic growth — they are its foundation.
Conservation is a valid and necessary use of public land. Protecting intact ecosystems, wildlife habitat, and scenic values sustains multiple uses for generations to come.
I urge the Bureau to withdraw this proposed rescission and retain the 2024 Conservation and Landscape Health Rule in full.
