Friends of Scenic 30A is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves as a caretaker of the Scenic Highway 30A.

They ensure the vision and intent of the Florida Scenic Highway Program is fulfilled within the corridor. The organization was responsible for pursuing and obtaining Florida Scenic Highway and then Federal Scenic Byway status for 30A and related connector roads. In late May, Walton County held a ribbon cutting for a beautiful and functional new project at the corner of 30A and Eastern Lake Road. The piece of land it sits on used to be an empty lot.

It’s called Friend’s Corner as a tribute to Friends of Scenic 30A, who spearheaded the project. It has a bike maintenance station, water fountain, dog watering station, low-impact lighting, landscaping, irrigation well with irrigation system, and a rest area with a bench. Scenic Walton supported this project by providing a letter of support, and we spoke in favor of county funding at public meetings. We commend our colleagues at Friends of Scenic 30A for initiating this important project and seeing it through. What an accomplishment and a benefit for our citizens!
