Take action: Oppose the proposed Addison Road homeless shelter location
Prince George’s County is considering a proposal to build a 28,000-square-foot Men’s Transitional Housing Center at 603 Addison Road South in Capitol Heights. While transitional housing is important, this location is the wrong place for such a facility.
The site lacks nearby access to public transportation, jobs, healthcare, training programs, and supermarkets — the very resources the shelter’s occupants would need to succeed in rebuilding their lives. In addition, placing such a large facility here would needlessly drive down the property values of more than 300 nearby homes, even though other available sites would be more suitable, more cost‑effective, and far less disruptive to surrounding neighborhoods.
Please use the form below to send a message to County Executive Aisha Braveboy urging her to oppose this unsuitable location and support transitional housing where it can truly work.
