Utility Undergrounding in Prince George’s County

By burying their utility wires underground, communities can promote safety and resiliency while also protecting their scenic qualities. In Prince George’s County, our streets are lined with unsafe and unsightly utility wires, making us more vulnerable to outages when severe weather hits. As the county plans for future developments, undergrounding our utility wires should always be a key priority.

The images below show various streetscapes along Central Avenue, which is a current target for redevelopment. It is critically important that we take action now to ensure that these wires are buried as the development advances. Scenic Prince George’s will advocate to county officials as well as to Pepco to ensure that safety, resiliency, and scenic beauty rise are addressed.
