Case Studies
The following case studies illustrate how scenic protection has been addressed in both general purpose and primarily agricultural easements. In each case study, the easements include some reference to scenic resources and contain limitations to protect those resources. The purposes of these easements vary and include controlling the impact of a public passive recreation area on open space, limiting the impact of a winery on a portion of a historic ranch, dividing responsibility for protecting a farm on Maryland's Eastern Shore among different land trusts, and identifiying and providing specific protection for the view from a Civil War battlefield.
